Residents of Chukudum, in Budi County, Eastern Equatoria, will for the first time in history be able to buy and own a piece of land legally after the town’s survey is concluded.
Budi County Commissioner Fr. Maurice Loguti told Radio Emmanuel that the survey of Chukudum town will bring changes in mobility and security for the benefit of both residents and government.Fr. Loguti explained that the current survey is the first phase of project that will produce over 3000 residential plots and nearly 900 commercial plots.
He added that the county administration will recognize only the Church land and the Hospital land that were demarcated but will not accept any claim of compensation for property that will be affected by the survey.
Meanwhile, Engineer Prince Halli, who is carrying out the survey, said Chukudum town was surveyed by a German company in 1952, but then the necessary technical data that would have enable him to continue the work from where it was left is missing.
Phase one of Chukudum town planning started last year and will be completed in February.
