KIIR IN NAIROBI FOR OFFICIAL VISIT

The President of the Government of Southern Sudan is in Nairobi since yesterday in an official visit to Kenya to brief his counterpart on current political developments.

President Salva Kiir Mayardit is accompanied by GoSS Ministers for SPLA Affairs, Nhial Deng Nhial, and for Regional Cooperation, Oyay Deng Ajak.

The GoSS delegation met today with Kenya’s President Mwai Kibaki and Prime-Minister Raila Odinga at Harambee House Office, Nairobi based Capital FM reported.

During the meeting President Kibaki affirmed Kenya’s commitment to the cause of Southern Sudan peace and post conflict rehabilitation.

Mr. Kiir briefed President Kibaki on the progress in the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement and the current currently political development in Sudan as the country prepares to enter a new phase of democratization with the general elections in April.

GoSS president thanked Kenya for the role it has continued to play during the entire peace process in Southern Sudan through immense support of various forms.
