The task of the apostles of today is to bring Jesus into the cultures and customs in order for Him to shine there, the cardinal of Khartoum said.

Archbishop Gabriel Zubeir Wako presided yesterday the Eucharist at St Paul’s Major Seminary, in Khartoum, to celebrate its patron saint’s day, SCRN News correspondent reported.

Archbishop Zubeir said the task of the apostles of today is to make Jesus shine out amidst cultures and customs.

The cardinal of Khartoum recalled that St. Paul was chosen as the major seminary’s patron saint because the missionary impulse in the Sudan was weak.

He explained that the major seminary is dedicated to the care of St. Paul due to his missionary zeal, so that those who will be coming out of that institution may be people filled with the zeal and concern for the people of God.

Archbishop Zubeir recalled that St Paul’s Major Seminary was opened in 1956, the year of independence, in order to help strengthen the faithful in a time of strong resistance to the Church.

The celebration was attended by all the teaching staff, some clergy, religious and the faithful who had come to share in the Eucharistic celebration.
