DARFUR PEACE TALKS RESUME IN DOHA

A new round of peace talks between the Khartoum government and rebel movements of Darfur kicked off yesterday in Doha, the capital city of Qatar.

The two delegations of the government of National Unity and Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) arrived in the Qatari capital to start talks sponsored by chief negotiator for the United Nations and African Union Djibril Bassole, Qatar News Agency reported.

Delegation representing the SPLM and other Darfur factions are yet to arrive in Doha to join the talks.

All parties concerned will engage in expanded conversations in preparation for starting negotiations on the final resolution of the seven-year old Darfur conflict.
