Fresh intertribal clashes between Dinka and Nuer communities have left more than 20 dead in a remote area of Jonglei State.

Sources with local contacts told SCR News that the fighting started some three days ago in Kulinyang where at least nine people were killed.

Yesterday the hostilities moved to a place between Phom and Fangak, along the river Po.

Fifteen people were reported dead in the fresh clashes.

Our sources however were not able to indicate a reason for escalation of violence between Dinka and Nuer neighbouring communities.

Meanwhile, SPLA spokesman, Major Gen. Kuol Deim Kuol, confirmed to Reuters that 15 people were killed yesterday near Fangak.
