Jersa Kide Barseba, from the Southern Sudan High Elections Committee and gender focal point, said today political parties should finish quickly their lists for women who run for the 25 percent of legislative seats.
Ms. Kide added that any delay in the presentation of women’s candidacy lists will affect the campaign of candidates who run for MPs at state assembly level.
Ms. Kide said that no party has yet submitted its women’s candidates list to the state elections committees and so far the women who registered are independent.
The period for submission of candidates’ applications for any executive or legislative post in the April Elections closes on Saturday.
