AL-BASHIR AND KIIR TO LEAD FIFTH CPA CELEBRATIONS IN YAMBIO

The President of the Republic and his First Vice-President who is also the President of the Government of Southern Sudan will lead the fifth CPA anniversary celebrations today in Western Equatoria state capital Yambio.
President Omar al-Bashir, who spent the night in Juba, and GoSS President Salva Kiir Mayardit are expected in Yambio this morning to preside over the peace celebrations.
The Government of Southern Sudan says in its website that the organized forces will provide adequate security and other measures to all who attend Yambio’s CPA celebrations.
Western Equatoria has been the stage of many bloody attacks by Ugandan rebels from the Lord’s Resistance Army.
The CPA Day is celebrated on January 9. However, due to preparations delays the feast in Yambio was postponed for today.
The Government of Southern Sudan has declared today a public holiday.
