SPLM Secretary General Pagan Amum presented the list of candidates to the press.
Mr Amum said the meeting that was held in Juba was marked by stiff internal competition.
He added that the fact that there were too many candidates contesting for a position made the selection very difficult.
These are the SPLM candidates to lead the 10 states in the South: Kuol Manyang Juuk, for Jonglei; Rizig Zakaria Hassan, for Western Bahr el Ghazal; Simon Kun Puoc, for Upper Nile; Clement Wani Konga, for Central Equatoria; Chol Tong Mayay, for Lakes; Nyandeng Malek Deliec, for Warrap; Jemma Nunu Kumba, for Western Equatoria; Paul Malong Awan, for Northern Bahr el Ghazal, Taban Deng Gai, for Unity; and Louis Lobong Lojore, for Eastern Equatoria.
Malik Agar Eyre is the candidate for Blue Nile and for Blue Nile; Abdel Aziz Adam Al Hilu for Southern Kordofan, and Deng Arop Kuol for Abyei.
The names of the candidates in the North are: Hamad Adam Hamad, for White Nile; Mohamed Yousif Al Mustafa, for Jazeera; Ali Khalifa Ali Aksori, for River Nile; Khadi Omer Rumboi, for Kassala; Izdihar Juma Saeed, for Northern State; Jafar Bamkar Mohamed Abdelalla, for Red Sea; Omer Al Tayeb Yousif Abu Ruaf, for Sinnar; Ahmed Abdel Bagi Bilal, for Northern Kordofan; Salwa Adam Bunia, for Gadharef; Omer Abdel Rahaman Adam, for Southern Darfur; Edward Lino Abyei, for Khartoum and Arbab Mohamed Ibrahim, for Western Darfur.
Mr. Amun affirmed that the SPLM Political Bureau elected the candidates through secret ballot.
He added that half of current governors in Southern Sudan lost in the contest.
Aloisio Emor Ojetuk lost East Equatoria’s seat; Mark Nyipuoch Ubay, West Bahr el Ghazal; Daniel Awet Akot, Lakes; and Antony Bol Madut, Warrap.
Upper Nile had a NCP governor: William Othon.
