Students of Bahr el Ghazal University are living in precarious conditions in Wau while waiting for the administration to come out with a solution after conflict broke out at the institution at the beginning of the week.

Over 240 students are staying since Monday under protection at the Police Training centre without toilet facilities and running water and with very little food.

A student told SCR News today over the phone that UNMIS has provided them with some oil, sorghum and beans on Thursday but the food is not enough.

Our source added that on Thursday the deputy vice-chancellor, Viktor Lako, came from Khartoum.

Mr. Lako met with the students at the police facilities to discuss the reasons for the conflict that opposes undergraduates from Equatoria and Jonglei.

He said he wanted to give special consideration for the Equatoria students to seat for exams that started on Monday.

However, so far no answer came from the administration of the university.

The students are also requesting to be back into their lodging quarters at the campus.
