Mary Boyoi, an aspiring woman MP for Pibor County in Jonglei State at the National Assembly, has blamed the people in power for child abductions taking place in south Sudan.

The Murle tribe is well known for abducting children from Central Equatoria Sate to Jonglei State.

Ms. Boyoi, herself a Murle tribeswoman, told SCR News that her people are abducting children but political leaders contribute to the crime too.

She added she wants to make women aware of the consequences of child abduction.

Ms. Boyoi said if she becomes a MP she wants to hold regular meetings and conduct visits to the communities during her time in office to find out the causes of child abductions.

The singer has experience in child management as she used to work with Save the Children as child inspector.

Ms. Boyoi called upon leaders in societies were child abduction is edgy to use their authority and stop the evil act.
