GOVERNMENT OF IRELAND TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL AID TO SUDAN

The Government of Ireland announced in its website that it is to make an additional 600,000 Euros, over 863,000 US Dollars, in funding available for emergency flood relief in the Sudan.Minister of State for Overseas Development, Peter Power, said the funding will be channelled through the United Nations’ World Food Programme.

WFP manages emergency food distribution across Sudan.

The agency plans to provide more than 650,000 tonnes of food to 6.4 million people in areas including Darfur and Southern Sudan during 2010.
