The Pope has urged terrorists and rebels to abandon the path of violence with God’s help and allow again the joy of peace in their hearts.
Pope Benedict made this appeal yesterday during the Angelus, the midday prayer, with thousands of pilgrims gathered at St. Peter’s Square, in the Vatican.

The Pope asked people to take care of the environment and to have consideration and respect for human life.

He appealed to rebels belonging to armed groups to stop, reflect, and abandon the path of violence.

Pope Benedict added that although this step may seem impossible, God will help them if they have the courage to take it.

The Holy Father concluded that with the help of the Lord 2010 will be a time to make the world a better place.
