Unknown gunmen attacked John Savio Otwor’ s car last Sunday between Seretenye and Kodongo villages in Ikotos County, Radio Emmanuel reported.
Mr. Otwor was on his way to Kitgum, in Uganda.
Bishop Johnson Akio Mutek cautioned against hatred and targeting leaders in his New Year message.
Bishop Akio added that leaders in South Sudan are people who contributed to bring prevailing peace to the region.
He urged aggrieved parties to seek dialogue and wait for the elections to remove leaders if they do not want them on power but not through the bullet.
Bishop Akio also warned against bad elements that might drag South Sudan in to a lawless era like Somalia.
He quoted the archbishop of Khartoum, Gabriel cardinal Zubeir Wako, who said it is not good to lose leaders at time of peace.
Bishop Akio urged Christians to live by peace.
Meanwhile, Eastern Equatoria State Acting Police Commissioner, Col. Ben Banal, said although the commissioner was not hurt, two of his bodyguards were seriously wounded in the ambush while three of the attackers died and another three escaped.
He added that the police are investigation the incident.
