Resident of Torit, Eastern Equatoria state, yesterday joined the rest of the country and participated in a peaceful demonstration in support of the2005 Comprehensive Peace Agreement.
SPLM Eastern Equatoria state office organized yesterday rallies in Torit Town and all the counties to show support to the CPA, Radio Emmanuel reported.
The demonstrators in Torit town marched from the county office to the office of the state governor where SPLM members voiced their views on what they claimed oppressive laws.
Eastern Equatoria state governor, Aloisio Emor Ojetuk, told the participants that the bad politics played by the Khartoum parliament dominated by National Congress Party are the cause for the break up of the country.
Governor Ojetuk stressed that the people of South Sudan and other marginalized regions will not accept oppressive laws.
Eastern Equatoria State SPLM Chairman, Louis Lobong, said the demonstration was meant to send a strong message to National Congress Party to honour the CPA.
Mr. Lobong added that the demonstration also raised awareness among citizens of Sudan, South Sudan and world at large that the NCP is putting obstacles in the CPA implementation.
