The People Liberation Movement (SPLM) and National Congress Party (NCP) have agreed to adopt the Southern Sudan referendum bill as initially agreed upon by the Presidency.

Atem Garang, National Assembly Deputy Speaker, told the press that the parties have come to an agreement.

The SPLM Secretary General Pagan Amum confirmed that the two parties have agreed to identify Southern Sudanese who settled in the north before 1956 based on their regions of origin in the south.

He said SPLM parliamentary bloc members, who walked out of parliament on Tuesday, will resume their functions to attend the passing of all referendum bills and popular consultation bills for Nuba Mountains and Southern Blue Nile area.
