Speaking at a press conference the SPLM Deputy Secretary for Southern Sector, Dr. Anne Itto, said that her party will not accept the Security and Referendum Laws because of the manner they have been passed by the Sudan Legislative Assembly.
Dr. Itto said that the passing of the two laws is a clear violation of the partnership between NCP and SPLM, the commitment to the citizens of Sudan, and to the CPA and the National Interim Constitution.
Dr. Itto called upon NCP leadership to consider the case and return the bills to the national parliament for renegotiation.
She said that the NCP owes peace and honesty to the people of Sudan and therefore should respect the citizens of Sudan. Dr. Itto was speaking yesterday after the Suadan National Assembly passed the controversial Security and Southern Sudan Referendum laws.
The National Congress Party (NCP) yesterday made a highly unexpected move and agreed to demands by the Sudan People Liberation Movement (SPLM) on removing the amendments made to the controversial South Sudan Referendum Bill adopted by the National Assembly this week.
