Today the president of the Government of Southern Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, has called upon president Bashir not to sign the controversial bills of national intelligence and security service, which were passed on Sunday by the Sudan National Assembly.

In a press conference held in Juba, President Kiir has described the bills as controversial, since they were passed with amendments not agreed upon by the Sudan Peoples’ Liberation Movement during the meeting of last week with president Bashir.

President Kiir affirmed that the passing of the controversial bills in the Sudan National Assembly is in clear defiance of the CPA.

He called upon all citizens of Sudan to stay calm, since the SPLM is committed to abide by the agreed bills and will not accept any changes in the bills. He also urged Sudanese not to allow-peace spoilers to provoke war.

President Kiir is confident that the leadership of president Bashir will not allow such irresponsible conduct in the Sudan National Assembly to endanger peace in the country.
