The Catholic Archbishop of Juba told the Salesians of Gumbo Parish to take care of themselves and of the youth while following in the footsteps of their founder St. John Bosco.

Archbishop Paolino Lukudu Loro was preaching at the thanksgiving mass for the 150 years of the Salesians of Don Bosco.

Archbishop Paolino urged the Salesians to sanctify themselves following their founder while taking care of the youth and the poor.

He added that St John Bosco is a model of sanctity and a man with a mission by the way he lived his life.

Fr. John Bosco started the Salesian Family on December 18 1859, in Turin, Northern Italy, with 17 companions, calling it the Congregation of St. Francis of Sales.

The congregation boasts a membership of over 16 thousand fathers and brothers with 1,384 working in Africa.

In the Sudan, they are over 20 in the two communities of Khartoum, and El Obeid, Wau, Tonj and Gumbo, in Juba.

In July 2010 they will open in Maridi, Western Equatoria.
