SPLA COLLECTS 592 ARMS IN TEREKEKA COUNTY

The Southern Sudan army has collected almost 600 guns in civilian disarmament operations at Terekeka County, Central Equatoria.

Sudan People’s Liberation Army spokesperson, Major General Koul Deim Koul, said in a statement yesterday that the SPLA 7th Infantry Brigade has been deployed in in Terekeka County for the past five days.

Mr. Kuol said that 592 guns have been collected, including one 12.7 mm heavy machine gun, one 60 mm mortar and three RPG-7.

He added that the disarmament operations will extend to other parts of Central Equatoria State.

Mr. Koul praised Central Equatoria Governor Clement Wani Konga, Terkeka County Commissioner, local administrators, chiefs and police for their full support and cooperation with the ongoing operations.

He added that disarmament operations are now progressing well in the States of Jungolei, Warrap, Lakes, Unity, Upper Nile and Central Equatoria.
