SOUTH SUDAN SET TO HAVE OWN SUGAR COMPLEX

GoSS Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry today signed a memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with East Africa’s leading sugar producer to establish a sugar complex in Mangala, Central Equatoria State.

Undersecretary with the Ministry of Agriculture, Jaden Tongun Emilio, who signed the MoU on behalf of his ministry, told the press that the government will also exchange know-how on agriculture with the Madhvani Group.

KGK Raju, Madhvani Director for Agriculture, said the company is committed to start the establishment of the sugar complex as soon as possible.

He manifested his appreciation to both the governments of Southern Sudan and Central Equatoria for their cooperation.

Farhan Nakhooda, Madhvan Projects Manager, said the company will use sugarcane husks to produce electricity for the complex and its neighbours.
