Eastern Equatoria State authorities have asked the Catholic Bishop of Torit to establish new parishes in remote areas of his diocese.

Eastern Equatoria State Governor Aloisio Emor Ojetuk made the request last Sunday during the ordination of Fr. Taban David Kamerino at our Lady of Assumption Cathedral in Torit, Radio Emmanuel reported.

Mr. Ojetuk told the congregation that on August 24 when he went to Imokor, Budi and Imotong areas, people asked him to present to the Bishop of Torit their request for the establishment of a parish in the area.

Joseph Lokodo Columbus, Eastern Equatoria State SPLM Secretary for Research and Information, made a similar request for another parish at Chukudum.

Mr. Lokodo said that Budi County has produced several priests so the number of parishes should also increase to call more people to know God.
