Eastern Equatoria State Legislative Assembly was in uproar and excitement yesterday as the news was announced that the state athletics team won a major national trophy.
Speaker Sabina Dario Lokolong made the announcement that the Torit team had won a trophy at the national sports competition that took place in Masheriya, Radio Emmanuel reported.Speaking shortly after the State Legislative Assembly concluded its second reading of the Budget for the 2009, Ms. Lokolong said the athletes will leave Khartoum for Juba today and thereafter they should connect to Torit.
Ms. Lokolong urged residents of Torit to join in welcoming the athletes to honour their efforts to lift up the name of the state.
However, the speaker did not specify the kind of trophy the Eastern Equatoria team won in the Masheriya competition.
