A priest of the catholic diocese of Torit calls for total peace in South Sudan for peaceful co-existence

Fr. Taban David the assistant parish priest of Sts. Peter and Paul Cathedral says peace begins from a host country before it spreads to the outside world

‘’Where is the peace in the country when the country is bleeding, women and children are being killed’

//. We south Sudan we need peace our country needs peace and peace begins from us and extends outside, because when we see part of our country is bleeding blood, women and children are being killed, nobody want to speak about it, then where are we going, where is the love we have for this nation, when there is danger in malakal you feel that am a southerner that it hurts you, when there is a bloodshed in jongole you feel that am part of that, it pains me, but when their problem in yambio maridi, then you say let them try that, then you lack sense of belongings.

Fr. Taban says there should be proper implementation of the peace agreement for citizens to enjoy the fruit of their nation.

He says emphasis has to be taken against the poor having no access to the community needs and demands.

He urges leaders to be concern about the future of sons and daughters of South Sudan as leaders of tomorrow by building trust amongst them.

//.Peace that we have been longing for let us make it a really peace that must be manifested in our heart, in our society, country, but when we speak about peace we suffered, born children during war and today they will give birth to children and they will enter in to war, let us see the example of Rwanda one of the best country in Africa, the president has gone to look at the venerable people who have no way of being in a house, and ahead of state build a house to them to occupy, you need to live legacy because everybody having a child, any small responsibility given to you must have a heart, that you must treat this child like my own child.

The assistant priest adds that there should be proper utilization of the resources to benefit the country in building health centers, schools, to create employment opportunity

//.With all this resources we would have built tarmac roads in whole South Sudan, universities and big hospitals, so people from Uganda, Kenya would have come here for services, but today we have no schools, no hospitals, we don’t know where are we heading, we pray that good Lord may tough the hearts of those who are in charge.

The catholic prelate made the statement while presiding mass at Sts Peter and Paul Cathedral on Sunday.
