Caritas Luxemburg, a charitable organization working in Eastern Equatoria State, has donated personal protective equipment or PPE to Nimule, Magwi and Kapoeta health facilities.

The materials include gumboots, masks, plastic glasses and water resistant plastic aprons and other WASH equipment to the health workers to protect them from getting infected with the virus as they attend to patients.

Emergency Program Officer, Asmath Nyakiba told Radio Emmanuel that the distribution targeted its staff working at the frontline.

“Caritas Luxembourg supports three hospitals and Nimule and MAGWI health facilities and for the three hospitals, we have provided PPE for all staffs working in the hospital, we targeted our staff who are working within the hospital. Before we provide the PPE, our staff on the ground are trained on IPC that’s infection prevention control, then, that’s when we secure the PPE and they were delivered to the hospital last week”.

Nyakiba says the safety of health personnel is their priority so that they are able to deliver good services to the community.

One of the doctors in charge of Magwi Primary healthcare center, Logoro Darius confirms that his facility received the equipment.

He appreciates efforts exerted by health partners in supporting workers in their various facilities.

“We know health workers we are not protected first protect yourself your family and the community I think when health workers are protected they will carry their duties some of them where worried if you don’t have mask and when somebody has respiratory problems they cannot go closer to the patient but it is going to encourage them to do their activities and willing to work daily in the work because you have the mask and will keep the social distance”.

Mr Darius says with the support from health partners, health personnel will be able to accomplish their duties without difficulties.
