UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs or OCHA said the UN Central Emergency Response Fund and Country-Based Pooled Funds have approved a 234 million US Dollars for the COVID-19 pandemic humanitarian responses.
 
OCHA in the Global Humanitarian Response Plan update over the weekend said, the funds is to support more than 42 countries so far.
 
It explained that as of 4 June, 1.18 billion Dollars, 18 percent of what is required has been recorded for the Global Humanitarian Response Plan.
 
OCHA said another 978.2 million Dollars have been recorded towards other activities, bringing the total received for the COVID-19 humanitarian response to 2.14 billion US Dollars.
 
It added that the funding plan will save lives; equip humanitarian agencies and non-governmental organizations with what they need to treat the sick.
 
The funding will also help secure a logistical backbone to allow humanitarian supplies and workers to continue reaching those in need.
 
UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs disclosed that the next update of the Global Humanitarian Response Plan is expected in mid-July.
