Chief of General Staff of South Sudan People’s Defence Force Johnson Juma Okot visited Yei River to address rising issues of insecurity, civil-military relation and covid-19 situation in the area.
 
He told civil society organizations, women and youth groups that most of the atrocities committed by the soldiers are related to delay in the pay of their incentives and lack of rotation of the forces, Radio Easter reported.
 
Chief Juma described citizens of Yei as responsible and mindful of the army despite being a population that has been hurt by the forces.
 
He called on the different authorities in the state to engage with the hold out groups who are still fighting to come for negotiation with the government in order to address their issues peacefully than using violence.
 
Presenting a memo to the chief of Defence Force, Mustafa Adam, chairperson of civil society organization forum in Yei, said women and Youth recommended that timely pay.
 
He said the Forum transfer of forces after every six months will help reduce cases of rape in the area.
 
They spoke during the visit of Chief of General Staff of South Sudan People’s Defence Force on Saturday in Yei.
