An official in charge of Himodonge Primary Health Care of Torit County confirms that cases of malaria and diarrhoea on rise in Himodonge Payam.

Abongo Kennedy says lack of mosquito nets in the area exposes people to high risk of malaria and diarrhoea, Radio Emmanuel re[ports.

He says children and the pregnant women are the most affected people.

“In Kilieu people normally come from five Bomas and these five bomas most of the sickness which are affecting people are Malaria and diarrhoea. Like for the case of malaria, you know Mosquitoes normally are the most causes because our people here they don’t use mosquito nets. So as a result, it makes these diseases here become common mostly affecting children who are the most vulnerable people and the pregnant mothers. These are the most people who are affected with these diseases and coming to this side of diarrhoea, you know our water sources are not safe though RASS have tried”, the official explained.

Kennedy calls on the local population in the area to seek for medical attention early enough to rescue their lives.

“Actually there are some challenges like you know with sickness or diseases, when sickness attacks a person it is good when the children is brought immediately. Like what you have seen as a challenge, like the community around here and those who live very far, they come late when the sickness has intensified very seriously like the children who are venerable. So it gives us a lot of work to care for them so I have seen this one as a challenge one problem is that we were not able to reach all those places to educate them on how to deal with such”, he advises.

Kennedy calls on the government and health partners to provide ambulance to ease transportation of patients from villages to the health centres.

The speaker made the statement in an inclusive interview on Saturday.
