Two thousand and three hundred candidates are sitting for South Sudan of Primary Leaving Certificate Exams in Torit starting with Christian Religious Education as the first paper Torit, confirmed Hassan Urbano Alex, State Minister of Education.
 
According to Radio Emmanuel, the first bell to mark the commencement of the exams was rang on Monday at Torit East Primary School.
 
More than 940 female candidates in Torit are among those who qualified for the exams.
 
Minister Urbano said Primary Leaving Exams started in 28 centres and are expected to conclude on Friday with Mathematics.
 
“98 primary schools with a number of girls 945, boys 1035, which is the percentage of the girls 41, which we are still demanding 9 so that to complete fifty, we are having 28 centres across the state. Last year we have of course 87 schools but this year we have 98 schools which there is increase, last year we have 784 girls and 1,163 boys which is totalling of 1,947 and this year 2300 so there is improving”, he explained.
 
Lillian Nakeny Lovokson, a candidate at Christ Bright Academy, expressed her readiness to the exams and is optimistic that she will pass.
 
She called on her fellow candidates to study hard to get better results in the state.
 
“I am ready because I read my books and I am event prepare to do this exam, so my last message is those pupils should read their books and so that they also can pass this examination and join senior one next year”, the pupils stressed.
 
Isaac Odongi Stephen, another candidate at St. Theresa Primary School cautioned pupils to maintain the security by avoiding unnecessary movements at night.
 
“I am very happy because this exam is not hard, but it is somehow good, yes I have just one something to tell, let those one now for this PLE, let them avoid moving at night because you don’t know maybe you will break your hand maybe something will happen to you that can leave you and you will not make your exams, he advised.
 
Education officials confirmed that candidates sitting for final exams this year is greater compared to 2018, indicating improvement in school enrolment in the state.
