United Nations on Development Program or UNDP in collaboration with the Ministry of Gender, Child and Social Welfare conducted a three days training on leadership and peace mediation skills to women in Torit.
 
According to Radio Emmanuel, the training aims at enlightening women on the 35 percent representation as agreed in the revitalized agreement.
 
The facilitator Jane Kiden Jackson says mentoring women on leadership and mediation skills help bridge leadership’s gap between men and women.
 
“It is about mentoring or coaching of women leaders these females were drawn from all walks of life, the aim is to coach them to take leadership position we have realized that there are competent and talented women but they not claiming up the leadership ladder,” she explains
 
Participant Joyce applauds the ministry and UNDP for bringing women together to understand and share their experience on leadership.
 
“We are so much grateful for the initiative taken by UNDP in collaboration with the Ministry of Gender some of us are in the system of leadership. The sessions and contents have been very relevant we have benefited a lot. I hope with all we are not the same the training has changed us we are now different women”, the participant stresses
 
Margret Ladu a representative of UNDP urges participants to put the knowledge into practice in order to realize their dreams in leadership.
 
She calls on citizens to work for peace in the state and South Sudan as a whole.
 
My dear participant on behalf of UNDP I am urging you to do the following make good use of what you have learn in this training and implement the knowledge and skill to mentor and coach other women. Conduct regular meetings and follow up to enable you plan to implement what you have agreed upon in the action plans. To realize sustainable peace, women participation and representation in senior executive political and social position requires unity,” she explains
 
The speakers made the remark during the closing remark of three days workshop in Torit
