Hundreds of residents in Magwi County including youth, women and the county authorities came out of their homes and offices to fill potholes in the feeder roads within the town.

Commissioner David Otto Remson said they are filling potholes using marram in the county headquarters to reduce cases of accidents and boost business, Radio Emmanuel reports.

He urges his community members to be exemplary to bring greater participation and development.

“Currently we are like upgrading ourselves we are trying to help issues of potholes in the town. Every week we find we are doing this. We have to be exemplary to the people. Even myself, I am able to hold a hoe working from 8AM up to 5PM.Peace is already within our country, the county is also calm too. We don’t want people travelling and tomorrow getting accidents within our town. My people are business people they can bring goods from the Payam to the county, there are some principles in the local government and out of this principles, voluntary work is one of them, so I have advocated for my community, I have talked to them, so we have agreed, they are able to give themselves for participation”, he explained.

Commissioner Otto added that people will be able to move freely without getting obstacles if roads are worked on.

He says better and improved road brings good business to the county.

“When crossing Magwi, you go on good roads. You cannot access to accidents. it creates also for us business because where roads are somehow fine then business is also booming”, the commissioner noted.

The commissioner made the remarks to Radio Emmanuel in a telephone interview.
