Internews in partnership with Save the Children on Monday started training journalists and social workers on Ebola rumours tracking, feedback gathering misinformation and mistrust documentation.
Speaking to Radio Easter, Interviews Project Manager Tusiime Wilfred Romeo explains that the five-day training is to improve the skills of the journalists.
Doctors will explain about the Ebola virus disease to the journalists and social workers, he adds.
“We’re training journalists, social workers and other selected people in rumour tracking, feedback gathering, misinformation and mistrust documentation. This training will take five days. It will end on Friday. We will have a lot of focus on rumour gathering, feedback gathering and also how to do radio production and improve on the skills they already have because some of them are journalists” says Wilfred.
Tusiime mentions that training reporters and social workers is also to improve risks communication efforts to control and prevent Ebola in Yei River State.
The project manager spoke to Radio Easter on Monday in an exclusive interview in Yei.
