UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs or OCHA says annual contributions to South Sudan Humanitarian Fund have increased over the last three years.

OCHA clarifies in its reports that the contributions went from 58.2 million US Dollars in 2016 to 78.2 million in 2017 and 88.9 million US dollars in 2018.

The Office notes that Humanitarian Fund received 88.9 US million from 13 donors in 2018, ranking fourth highest among the 18 Country-Based Pooled Funds.

It adds that the Fund allocated a total of 53.4 million dollars including 51.4 million allocated through two standard allocation rounds and 2 million through the reserve allocation mechanism.

Humanitarian Coordinator in South Sudan, Alain Noudehou, says “with funding provided to South Sudan Humanitarian Fund we are able to respond to the highest priority needs on the ground in a timely and coordinated way”.

He thanks the donors who contributed to the Fund which according to him reached 2.9 million people including 1.3 million women and girls.

The Fund supported the implementation of 225 projects by 87 partners.
