South Sudanese women should register in political parties to be member and be in position of trust to get chances, says Sierra Leonean Member of Parliament.

Dr Bernadette Lahai advises women to understand and sacrifice their time for the benefit of positions in the political parties and attend meetings.

She appeals to the traditional leaders to open a chance to the women to practice and take decision in the society despite the influence.

Lahai urges men to support women, stand by them and encourage them to take decisions.

An Activist Kiden Lucky says that women should think in advance way to disseminate the role of women as stated in the revitalised agreement on the 35%.

Former Minister of Gender in Terekeka State Agnes Wayet Lino believes women can convince men to campaign with them to get top positions.

Community Empowerment for Progress Organisation or CEPO, Coordinator for Status of Women Initiative Sunday Betty says their objective is to create mixed group from different backgrounds to work on the 35 percent and have activities and dialogue with leaders.

She adds that they need women to occupy top positions in the ministries such as director-generals, undersecretaries, commissioners and even MPs and legal personnel.

The officials spoke on Tuesday at the leadership forum on women’s participation in governance and peace process organized by CEPO.

The workshop attracted more than twenty-five participants from various backgrounds of the former ten states.
