The Commissioner of Torit State Revenue Authority issued an order banning transportations and exportation of forest products including logs, timbers and bamboos in the area.

Radio Emmanuel quotes Charles Onen Lukwaro calling on individuals and companies to register their available products before legal measures are taken.

He warns that the state government will confiscate unregistered forest products and later auction them.

“No more exportation or transportation of forest products from our state I have issued measure for everybody who has been dealing in logs whether being in companies or what to register his or her products and the registration forms are already designed. This is what we call voluntary registration of your products you have been dealing in because if you don’t register the team is going to move throughout the county. If we find any log any timber, the beams, bamboo and all that has not been declared, registered we shall call it the property of the State Revenue Authority we shall auction it and give the money to the community to finish those fake projects”, he explains.

Onen says the state parliament been tasked to review all contracts and agreement awarded to them by different ministries.

He calls on companies or individuals operating in forest products to stop operations until legal policies are developed.

“People may say but there are some companies which have been conception, or permit to operate, all those ones are all on hold the parliament will review the way I which the procedures the manners in which they have awarded the parliament has been task they say they want all those contracts or contentions or agreement to be forwarded to them for review so those who are already here like Lukiza and other companies that have sign consentient with Government to harvest our Katire teaks to stop production or harvest until the parliament will review their contentions”, he clarifies.

The order came after stakeholders in Torit in their meeting resolved on Thursday that all companies or individuals engage in forest products should not be allowed to transport and exports forest products in the state.
