Ambassador of Brazil Antonio A.M. Cesar on Thursday presented accreditation letter to Secretary-General of the East African Community, Liberat Mfumukeko to serve as an envoy to the bloc.
 
Ambassador Cesar congratulated the EAC Secretary General and that his government attaches great importance to regional economic groupings.
 
Cesar said “regional integration initiatives take time but you need to continue so as to build a strong and powerful bloc”.
 
He hailed the EAC as one of the fastest growing bloc in the world and that Brazil and the Southern American Common Market had a lot to learn from the Community.
 
EAC Secretary-General praised the existing cordial relations between the bloc and Brazil and welcomed the support of the Brazilian government to enable the Community to achieve its agenda.
 
He briefed the Envoy on the progress of the Community including implementation of Protocols on the Customs Union, Common Market, Monetary Union and Political Federation.
 
Ambassador Mfumukeko disclosed that EAC Partner States started drafting Constitution for EAC Confederation.
 
He informed the Brazilian Ambassador that EAC has close working relationships with other bodies in Africa to promote African Union's vision of an African Economic Community.
 
EAC Deputies Secretary-General for Planning and Infrastructure Steven Mlote and Christophe Bazivamo of the Productive and Social Sector attended the accreditation.
