The government has decided not to sign the declaration of principles on Friday, says spokesperson

Michael Makuei Lueth says they declined to sign because the provision implicates some members and it is not a principle.

The mediators say the signing is optional and that those who feel like not to sign are free, he adds.

The spokesperson says the government gave mediators choices: either to delete the last article, erase the government out from the list of signatories or put the document to shelf.

The Declaration of principles is now not relevant because the parties have started negotiating without the document.

Director of South Sudan Network for Democracy and Elections, Rajab Mohandis confirms that the government did not sign the document.

The officials spoke after the session on Friday in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
