The tractors President Salva Kiir donated to states last year are not been used in Yei River State because of insecurity in the area, says Director in the State ministry of Agricultural and Forestry.

Edmond Taban Gogo says Yei cannot use its tractors because there is no land to cultivate as farmers cannot access far areas outside the town due to insecurity.

He says four tractors were already given to the Ministry, meanwhile others have been given to Morobo and Lainya Counties, but they are not functional.

Taban says the situation is beyond their control and that the tractors can only be used if the security situation improves in the state.

He advises people of Yei to make use of the rainy seasons by cultivating in any available land to provide food to their families.

Some residents of Yei also complain of insecurity and limited land for cultivation because they are still confined to the town.

They call for peace to prevail in South Sudan so that they can cultivate freely to fight hunger.
