The Chairman of the Association of Member Episcopal Conferences of Eastern Africa or AMECEA stresses that South Sudan needs more bishops to fill the vacant dioceses to be able to guide the flocks of God in the young country.

Cardinal Burhaniyesus Souraphel says the ongoing bishops’ conference in Juba is to address the current pastoral situation in the country in addition to new bishops.

He stresses that appointing new bishops will help the faithful in various dioceses.

The Catholic prelate says they came to show solidarity of AMECEA to South Sudan and pray with the Sudan Catholic Bishops’ Conference in their ongoing plenary.

Cardinal Souraphel promises that AMECEA is ready to offer capacity building to South Sudanese in various fields of their respective educational institutions.
