A sergeant in the Sudan Peoples' Liberation Army SPLA, Martin Marial, shot nine family members in Erap residential area in Yei County today at two in the morning. Eight of them died at the spot while the ninth sustained gunshot injuries in her stomach.Juma Taban the director for security branch in Yei County told radio Easter that the cause of the shooting came after Mr. Marial's wife left him. The later decided to take revenge on the family of his in-laws. Paskalina Konga the survivor of the incident and student of Lutaaya primary school was shot in the stomach and is currently admitted in Yei Civil hospital. Ms. Konga is reportedly in a very critical condition. Martin Marial who is responsible for the death of these people ran and the county security force are in pursue of him. On the same note, another soldier shot a commander of the camp at NTC, his deputy and his wife today.. The incident came after senior SPLA officers wanted to cut salaries of soldiers by forcing them to participate in a cooperative. The soldiers refused to be forced to join the cooperative and also refused to take half of their salaries. The entire group of soldiers are said to have taken up arms and ammunitions and vacated the barracks. Their presence has been felt in the suburbs of Yei, creating fear and panic in the public.
