The United Kingdom earmarked 100 million US dollars for the conduct of the upcoming referendum in South Sudan. The cash will be availed through the British International Foreign Development, an organization to be based in Juba, Sudan Tribune website reported. Last week, the US announced the allocation of 60 million dollars to assist in the referendum process. The UK offer was revealed in a meeting between GoSS Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny and a visiting delegation from the United Kingdom led by the new British Ambassador to Sudan, Nicholas Kay. The meeting also discussed the role the UK government could play to support the referendum process. Ambassador Kay stressed that Britain would provide expertise and assist in civic education among the population in South Sudan prior to the conduct of the referendum.
