Tombura-Yambio Catholic Diocese on Sunday launched 21 days of fasting and prayers for peace at St Mary Catholic Parish in Yambio.
In his homily, Bishop Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala said peace was very important for human life because God created man in His image and no one has right to take away any life, Anisa Radio reported.
He added that through prayers people can receive tranquillity in their hearts, communities and the country at large.
The Bishop promised to solicit for support for Internally Displaced Persons or IDPs through the diocesan humanitarian office.
Rebecca Chol displaced from Unity State commended the diocese, adding that the church and Western Equatoria government displayed solidarity and true love for them.
More than 58 IDPS from Unity, Jonglei and Upper Nile States are camping in Yambio.
